Possession by Annie Oldham
(Song and Shadow #1)
Young Adult Paranormal
Date Published: October 31, 2014
Constance Jerome wants nothing more than to make it through her senior year of high school without being noticed. But when her mother drops the world's biggest bombshell, flying under the radar just isn't in the cards. It turns out Constance is a necromancer—one of the few who can travel the realms of the dead.
Apparently it runs in the family. And now there's a threat coming: another necromancer with plans to disturb the living and the dead, and Constance and her mother are the only ones who can stop him. If only they knew who he was. Or what exactly he was up to. A quiet senior year isn't an option, and Constance must race to stop a high school apocalypse before the balance between the living and the dead is overturned.
Annie Oldham
Annie adores writing and reading YA novels. She grew up with an insatiable desire to read and then came the insatiable desire to write. Annie has been blessed to have both of those in her life.
Away from her writing, Annie is the mother of the most adorable girls in the world, has the best husband in the world, and lives in the hottest place in the world (not really, but Phoenix sure feels like it). She loves to cook, sing, and play the piano.

INTERVIEW
1. Describe Possession in 3 words.
Spooky, deathly, quirky
2. What inspired you to write Possession?
I had yet to write anything contemporary, and I wanted to have a go at it. At the same time, I love mixing the unreal with the ordinary and watching those two worlds collide. A high school wallflower who wants nothing more than a quiet senior year but then discovers she can summon the spirits of the dead and travel the realms of dead? Wonderful fun!
3. Where do you usually write?
My computer is set up right in the middle of my kitchen and family room. I have three young children, and shutting myself in an office for an hour or more at a time is a recipe for lots of mischief being made.
4. What is the one thing (or multiple) you always have with you while writing?
Water and snacks. I usually write from about 1:30-2:30, and I always get the munchies.
5. Which are your top 3 favourite series/books of all time?
Mmm...hard question! I love The Lord of the Rings, The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, and Harry Potter. Oh, and The Chronicles of Prydain. I'd better stop there, or I'll keep adding to the list :)
6. Your favourite movies or TV shows?
Once Upon a Time, Bones, and Fringe.
7. What should we expect from you in the future?
I'm currently in the middle of the next book in the Song and Shadow trilogy, and after the trilogy is finished, then who knows. I'll probably have a go at something I've never tried before!
