Unpack This [Sep.24 - Sep.30]

Unpack This is a meme I started instead of my usual IMM. It was inspired by my love to open boxes, yes I love doing that.

E-Books:
Joe: This one was on sale when I bought it so you can imagine how excited I was to finally get it. I've read Blood Warrior by H.D. Gordon a while back and really enjoyed it, and even though this one seems very different I am even more excited about it. I love a good murder mystery with a paranormal element in it.

Physical Books:
TEN: I can't begin to describe how excited I am about this book. The story reminds a bit of Harper's Island, a great one season series. Ten teens trapped in an island for three days with one killer. One word: awesome! This is very high in my TBR list so hopefully I will read it during October.
Spark: Book two in the Elemental Series. I adored book one and Spark being about Gabriel, who I loved more than Chris, is sure to become a favorite too. My biggest dilemma is: Should I read this now or wait to get closer to the third's book release date?
Defiance: I won this book at a giveaway by Carly @ http://fictionfascination.blogspot.co.uk/. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about it and I really don't know what to expect. Maybe that's for the best, having no expectations and all may make this book really good for me. (or really bad)
Second Grave on the Left: What can I say about this book beside, oh Charley I missed you. I honestly loved the first book and can't wait to get once again sucked in Charlie's crazy world.

What did you Unpack this week?

EDEN-WEST Blog Tour: Dream Cast

Today is my stop on the EDEN-WEST tour. Let me start by saying how much I love these books. They are truly amazing. Janelle is a brilliant author who has a great writing style and an amazing ability to create a world and characters that you can easily fall in love with.

Today, Janelle is going to present her dream cast for the characters of the Eden series.

The lovely Veronica Morfi has asked me to create my “dream cast” for Eden. I was really excited to do this, and had a lot of fun. Here is who I would pick to portray some of the main characters:

THE BOYS
Aiden – Harry Styles. Hee hee hee, he’s so cute.
Wolf – Luke Stevens. It’s the jawline lol he needs longer hair though.
Logan – Benj Lee. He needs longer hair.
Callum – Ben Hill. He also needs longer hair, but the rest of him is perfect! Seriously.
Jameson – Gabriel Aubry.
THE GIRLS
Lily – Ali. Love her! Kind of pixie like and definitely big eyed like Lily. Just needs long white hair and some violet contacts!
Rain – Ksenia Golubeva. She’s flat out exactly what I pictured. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Rose – Paisha. She needs red hair, and then she’d be perfect!
And lastly our main girl:
Elisa – Laura Paine. She would need darker hair, but for me she has that vulnerable look mixed with tough. Not so much in the picture I picked here, but some of the others I looked at.
And that is my cast! Or at least some of them lol I don’t think I could do the entire book. I don’t envy casting people. As a little added bonus, I will leave you with one last person. A new character never before seen (or read) who will be a major player in book three!

Introducing Elex. All he needs are some tattoos and wings…yes wings

Seriously, how hot is this cast? Some of them are exactly how I pictured them. Especially Aiden, Callum, Jameson and Rain. And OMG Elex!!!!!! Wings??? Seriously Janelle you are killing me. Where is book 3?

Before you leave make sure to check the books in the series, and if you need more info on them you can always read my reviews.

Wuthering High (Bard Academy #1) by Cara Lockwood

Miranda Tate has no idea that her acting out will lead her to be send to a boarding school in a private island and that Bard Academy is not your ordinary school for delinquents. The are creepy stories about the ghost of a girl haunted the place and Miranda is convinced that her room is her haunting place. Even more weird are the teachers with the odd names and attitudes and a student that seems to think he is Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights.

I loved this book. I have no idea why I waited so long to read it. It has everything I adore: a haunted boarding school, a funny and relatable heroine and a creepy storyline. I loved the way Cara Lockwood brought all the classics to life in this book. Let me tell you now that I am not a big classic reader and I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to follow some things in the book but the way Miranda describes everything I found it really eaasy to keep up. I even learned a few things I didn't know.

Miranda was, as I mentioned before, a great MC. She originally seemed a bit spoiled but I soon realised that she wasn't, at least not more spoiled than any normal 16-year-old. She is funny and tries to give everyone a chance, without pre-judging them. She is sweet, curious and brave. I really enjoyed being in her head and watching everything through her eyes. The rest of the crew consists of the friends: Hana, Samir and Blade, my favourite beign Samir, he is hilarious and a big chicken which makes him even more real. Then there are the love interests, yes there's two of them, Ryan Kent and Heathcliff. Let me say that just the fact the Miranda refers to Ryan by his full name only proves that she has idolized him. I am Team Heathcliff all the way. He is incredible, even with all his flaws.

The setting of the school was another thing I loved. The creepy, ghothic buildings and the even creepier woods. Everything was like a horror movie. And then there were the hauntings and the fires and all the mystery behind them. I really enjoyed the way everything seemed to connect and eventually played out.

Unpack This [Sep.17 - Sep.23]

Unpack This is a meme I started instead of my usual IMM. It was inspired by my love to open boxes, yes I love doing that.

I have a few huge orders I waiting on and they're probably going to arrive next week or the one after that,  but still I some of the books arrived and I managed to get a couple of review books and a freebie ebook.

E-Books:
Rae of Hope: I was really curious about this book ever since I first saw it, almost a year ago. The storyline seems so unique and interested. This was free the past couple of days, so I grabbed it of course. I love freebies.
Forged by Greed: I literally just received that from the author. I am emailing her on another tab in my browser. I am so good at multitasking... Anyways, this will be my next read. It just came out and I am really excited about it. Can't wait to start it.
Splintered: I saw this in a few blogs in last weeks haul posts, so I realized it must be on Netgalley and went ahead and requested it. I can't wait to read a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. This book will be published January 1st so it's still a few months before I start it.

Physical Books:
Undead: Zombiessssss. I can't wait to read this. It has zombies and sarcastic humour in it. Or at least that's what I heard. I think I will love it. Oh, and the sides of the book are red. How cool is that. I bet the sides of the next one are yellow.
The Body Finder: I need to start this series. I love ghosts books and this seems like a great one since it also has a serial killer in it.
The Missing (Cryer's Cross): This will be my first book by Lisa McMann, I am also waiting for Wake to arrive. I hope is as good as I expect it to be. The premise of the book is great. I love a good mystery.

What did you get to Unpack this week?

First Draft of Burning Sky

Today I am very happy to announce that I finished the first draft of my novel Burning Sky. I can't really begin to explain how happy I am. I stayed up until it was almost dawn to finish it. I am so excited about it but unfortunatelly now comes the editing part. I am really curious to see how good I am at that. Hopefully it will be perfect and ready to publish in a month or so.

After I do my part  I am sending it over to my Beta reader Heidi @ http://rainydayramblings.typepad.com/ hopefully her head won't explode with all my mistakes. It's really hard to write sometimes, not just because English is not my native language but also because my brain just works faster than my fingers and sometimes I skip words and whole sentences to keep up with it. Hopefully I'll correct all those errors myself.

Anyways, I hope it all works smoothly because Burning Sky will be my first book "out there" and I just want everything to be perfect, or at least as perfect as possible.

Oh, and just to let you know a few things about Burning Sky if you are wondering. Well, it's YA paranormal and it has my fav legendary creatures in it. DRAGONS. I am a sucker for dragons. Oh, and by the way, the banner at the beginning of the post is part of the cover.

So, wish me luck!

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls #1) by Ally Carter

In the first book of the Gallagher Girls we are introdused to Cammie and get thrown in the middle of her crazy world. Spies, cover ops, extreme fighting skills, a million different langueges, crazy scientist for a teacher, this school has it all and I loved it all too. For the first time in her life Cammie starts having feeling for a boy in the outside world and he seems to have them too, so the spy in her takes control over the situation.

I really enjoyed this book. First off let's make it clear that I love spies, the gadgets, the sharp minds, the action packed missions, I love them all and this book has it all. The characters are fun and so different from each other. Cammie and her friends Bex and Liz, are three girls that anyone can find something to connect with them. Then there is the new snobby girl Macey, who is so much more than she seems at first and soon she will also find her way into the readers hearts.

The world that Ally Carter creates was fun, entairtaining and had a lot of spies in it (of course). And when I say spies, I mean like in the history of the world. Thoughout the book we get mentions of events and inventions that are all due to spies, but of course the normal people don't know about it. It really made the world more really and a little insane too, which I loved.

The only problem that I had with this book is that it doesn't have any big plot on the background. No super villain who wants to destroy the world, or whatever. It was mostly about Cammie getting to know a life outside the Academy. I don't know if this going to change in the next books, so here's hoping. Cause I would love to see those girls doing some villain ass kicking.

Tell Me Something Tuesday #9

Tell me Something Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Cambria Hebert. Every week we get to answer to a new question.

This week's question:
Do you like stand alone books - why or why not? What is the last stand alone title that you read?

My answer:
Oh, the love I have for a good stand alone story and how hard they are to find. Somedays I am dying to just pick up a book and know that when I am done reading it, it would be the end of a story. Don't get me wrong I love series, usually my favorite books are series books, and that's probably because you get more attach to worlds and characters when you read a lot of books about them, but sometimes a girl needs closure not a cliffhanger.

The last stand alone book I read was Blackwood by Gwenda Bond, unfortunatelly I didn't like it that much.
Now for some all time favorite stand alones.

I know that Sisters Red and Dark Secrets are supposed to be in series but the books of the series are completely about other characters, so they are like stand alones.

What are some of your favorite stand alones?
