Unpack This [Feb.11 - Feb.17]

Unpack This is a meme I started instead of my usual IMM. It was inspired by my love to open boxes, yes I love doing that.

This week I finally received a few books I had ordered a while back. And then I went in a search on amazon and found two more free ebooks. Let's begin.

Physical Books:

Unravelling: I've been dying to get this one. And it's almost time for the sequel too.
Fade: I was missing this (the second book), so now I have the whole series and I can finally begin reading it.

E-Books:

To Kill A Warlock & Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble: Both are free on amazon and I had been kind of curious about them, especially about To Kill A Warlock.

Recalled (Death Escorts #1) by Cambria Hebert

Cambria's new book didn't disappoint. This is set in a completely different world from the Heven and Hell Series.

Recalled is the story of Dex and Piper. The moment they met cost Dex his life in order to save hers, but then something unexpected happened. Dex didn't really die. Instead he got a new job, a new house, a new car...oh, and a new body. He is Death's latest Escort, which only means he has to kill people so that Death can collect their souls. His first target is Piper the girl that costed him to lose everything.

I really enjoyed the story of this book. How death had people doing his dirty work. How Dex would try to kill Piper a million times and then save her a million times. I loved the struggle inside of him, trying to decide who he is and what he is supposed to do. Dex is definitely my fav male protagonist from Cambria's books. He was so good, even though he thought he wasn't and he was really struggling with his mission to kill Piper.

On the other hand we have Piper. In the beginning I didn't really know what to think about her because she was a bit moody and depressed. I guess watching someone die for you can do that to a person. But after she met Dex, in his new body and started falling for him and having fun with him, she turned into a person full of life. Someone that I wasn't sad Dex lost his life for.

I didn't know what was going to happen in the end and I had my worries. But it turned out the ending was my favorite part of this book. Brilliant. Everything about it was brilliant. Oh, and it takes place in Alaska. How cool is that? It's my first book set there. Anyways, to conclude this book is BRILLIANT. This lady, Cambria Hebert, is a genius. Can't wait for more in the series and possibly a bit more of Charming, the other Escort we met in the book, who turned out to be pretty descent after all.

My Review

Unpack This [Feb.4 - Feb.10]

Unpack This is a meme I started instead of my usual IMM. It was inspired by my love to open boxes, yes I love doing that.

This week I have to thank Rebecca Gober and Courtney Nuckels for all the books in my haul.

Firstly, everyone on the Project ELE Street Team got the newly released Surviving ELE, the last book in the ELE series. If you haven't started reading the series yet Project ELE is free everywhere and it's a great post-apocalyptic book.

Then through a contest on the Street Team FB page I won a $10 amazon giftcard and bought this book.

I remember seeing an author interview about what makes a mystery/crime novel good (can't remember where though) and it was amazing. And besides Hy Conrad is the writer and producer of MONK. I love Monk! So, Rally 'Round the Corpse is a must for me.

So, last week I read and reviewed Tough Girl (and I slipped and read another non-review book but it was worth it). I hope that this week, with no work and all, I will manage to read at least two of the books above. Recalled, which I've already started, and A Shade of Vampire, which is really small.

How did you do?

Now You See Me (Gifted, #5) by Marilyn Kaye

This is the fifth book in the Gifted series and I have to say it was one of the most exciting ones so far.

In Now You See Me we follow around Tracey, who has the gift of invisibility, as she tries to find out who is the spy inside her gifted class. Because she is invisible it's easy for her to get inside people's houses so we learned a lot about the rest of the crew that we didn't so far.

Besides her story we once again go inside Jenna's mind. She can hear everyone's thoughts and because of that she is one of the most feared amongst the gifted by the people who want to exploit their powers. So Jenna is framed and trapped inside a school for troublemakers.

I loved how in this book most of the secrets were reviled. We got to find out who the spy is and had a bit of surprise there. And finally the gifted class seems to be getting along and everyone is working together. Can't wait to read the final book in the series.

Fire & Ice: Vampire Academy

Second post for the Fire & Ice blog hop. I love how this is going.

So, today I am featuring an amazing series which I only started reading recently. And this is the Vampire Academy. I've only read the first book so far but loved it.

Here's my review

Now I know why everyone goes crazy about this series. Yeap, this book was amazing. I loved it. As of now I am a VA fan. And since almost everyone has read this book I am going to keep my review short.

What I liked:
The characters, the setting, the Vampire history, the whole world was brought to life by the amazing writing of Richelle Mead. After a few pages I wanted to be a student in the Academy. I also loved who the plot made sense. Every thing fall into place by the end. And if you tried hard enough you could figure it all out on your own. Of course there were a few surprises at the end.

What I didn't like:
Well, basically nothing. But the one thing that kept bugging me till the end, was Rose's constant flirting with everyone. It makes her look weak and insecure, that she would need guys approval to feel good. I honestly hope it stops. Otherwise I loved her to pieces.

So, I can't wait to read the next book, which I luckily own, and finally meet Andrian. I was a bit dissapointed to find out he wasn't in this book.
