I love this book, why haven’t more people read it!? What are some of your favorite sleeper books that you wish more people would read?

My Answer:
I love this week's question 'cause sometimes I feel like there are so many series that I completely adore but others have no idea about them. The weird thing is the have many ratings, some of them over 10.000 ratings on goodreads, but the thing is, when I see the shelves of my goodreads friends I usually don't find them there and it's a shame 'cause al of them are amazing. So let's talk about some of them.

The Looking Glass Wars: I was never a huge Alice in Wonderland fan, I am more of a Wizard of Oz groupie, but this series is great. It's a spin on the original tale. Frank Beddor has created an amazing Wonderland all of his own. These books have everything in them. Love, lost, battles. I think if I was an Alice in Wonderland fan I'd be obsessed with them.

The Midnighters: Everyone knows Scott Westerfeld from his Uglies series, which by the way I've still to read, but the Midnighters is the series that made me love him. That guy is brilliant. The whole idea behind this series is brilliant. I got so attached to the characters and their stories and powers and everything they had to go through. And OH.MY.GOD. that ending, brilliant (and heart breaking).

The Shamer Chronicles: Another very original story that got me hooked by the second book. Yes, I have to admit the first one was really good but after the second one the story just went on another level. And I simply adored the last book. It was epic.

Stravaganza: I love this series!!! I was in love with Italy before I started reading these books but after every story I has even more hooked. This compines time-traveling with parallel universes. Brilliant. Everybook has a different main character that travels from our world to Talia (the Italy of this other world) and every book takes places in a different city. Still all the characters from the previous books show up and there is a big storyline on the background that evolves from book to book. I have to admit I still haven't read the last book and that's simply because I don't want the story to be over. But I think its time is getting closer.

Eden: And of course this list would be incomplete without this series. For me Janelle is one of the most brilliant indie authors out there. Her writing is only getting better and better, each book will have you hooked and the world of Eden, oh God! This is one of the places I will carry in my heart forever. There are no words to describe how amazingly awesome this series is and the final book is getting closer.

Last couple of weeks I didn't get the chance to buy any new books, but still got a few for review and one freebie I am very excited for. 

For Review

Fire: I have to admit the cover of this one kind of put me off but I read some of the reviews and it seems like a great read. Besides I love books that have to do with controling the elements.

Charmed: Yay!!! The second book in the Death Escorts series. I loved the first one and this one is about Charming, who made an unforgettable appearance in the first novel. I also heard there are some pretty hot scenes that I can't wait for. I've already started this one, getting ready for my stop on the book tour.

The Moon Dwellers: It was the birthday of this one and the author was giving away smashwords codes to everyone so I grabbed it. I also read the the fourth book in the series is also the fourth book in another series by the same author. Great idea to have both book somehow intertwine.

The Third Evil (Fear Street Cheerleaders, #3) by R.L. Stine

This is the third book in the Cheerleaders saga in which Corky and her friends have to face for one final(?) time the evil spirit. But this time there is no teling who is under its control and when the truth comes out Corky would have to take some very grave decisions in order to get rid of the spirit once and for all.

This book was a great, creepy and fast read. I loved how the first part kept me guessing who the evil spirit was this time. We also get to learn more about the life and death of Sarah Fear the original evil spirit.

It was great to see the girls tryign to stay alive for one more time. Corky fighting to get rid of the spirit and struggling to take control of her life. Even the spirit of Bobbi, her dead sister, showed up to help her.

Now if only I had the next book. It's really hard to find a copy of the fourth book for some reason, but I will. I am dying to find out what the evil spirit is up to next.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Jill is in love with fencing but after losing a very important game she retreats in the Bahamas with her family. There she finds a tip of a broken rapier in the sand and realizes it's a 300 year old piece of history so of course she holds on to it. After an accident, involving a boat and some crazy waves, she ends up on board a pirate ship, at the time where the rapier tip came from.

This is the perfect read for people like me that love pirates and good swordfights. Jill is thrown in the middle of a pirate's everyday life and along with her we learn all these bits and pieces about how a pirate ship worked, the pirate honor and swordfights. I loved every single thing we got to learn in this book and there was plenty. Jill was a great main character, dying to get back home and struggling with her new life, knowing that she is not pirate material. All the secondary characters were great too. I loved the crew. There was Captain Cooper, a fierce pirate queen, Ade her right hand, Henry a cute pirate that Jill had a little crush on and then there were people on the crew that weren't that good, they are pirates after all. But the one I did enjoy the most was Captain Cooper. She was fierce and kick-ass and had a very tragic past, still she had her tender moments and everyone from the crew loved and feared her at the same time.

This book is filled with sailing, swordfights and ship raids as someone would expect from a book about pirates. There is the light romance between Jill and Henry but I kind of saw them more like good friends than anything else. This book is not about romance it truly is about the pirates and their lives, and how going through all of it changed Jill, and that's why I loved it so much.

I recommend this to anyone who loves pirates and wants a fast, action packed book that will teach you something in the end.

To continue or not to continue a series....let’s talk series. What are some of your favorite series that you continue to read? What would cause you not to continue a series.

My answer:

Lately, there is a series that is lingering in my mind. I've read the first book and gave it 2 stars. Didn't really enjoy it that much but I've been thinking that I want to know what happens next or maybe my brain somehow needs to know, even though I am sure I will be rolling my eyes at every other sentence. So I decided to put my two cents in about this week's topic.

Firstly let's talk a bit about series I love. The first one that pops into my mind is the Riftwar Cycle. It's huge (30 books), epic fantasy and the last book was released a few months ago, and I mean the last last book.

Then of course there is Harry Potter, Hex Hall, Stravaganza, Steampunk Chronicles, Eden and so many more series. Those series I loved and some of them are still releasing new books and I also read them and know I will adore them.

But let's see what someone's choices are when they don't like a book. So you can either keep on reading knowing that you might not like what you read next or you can stop a series. But the true question is: how easy is it really, to stop a series?

From time to time I read books that I don't enjoy all that much. They end up with one star review or maybe two stars ones if there was some okay things in them. Usually that's that for me. I've never kept going on a series if the first book gets a review like that. But as I said at the beginning of this post there is this one story that I just can't get out of my head, even though I rated the book with 2 stars. Wondering which story I am talking about? It's Possessions by Nancy Holder. I never liked the story that much but flashes of it keep coming back to my mind. I think it's the creep factor that wants me to keep on reading. Ok, so after being tortured by my own mind I decided I should continue with these series. But this is the only time this happened to me. All the other times a book gets a bad rate I am done with it and the story, not buts or ifs. It's over.

Now there is another possibility. That you read the first few books in a series and you do enjoy them but then, somewhere in the middle of the series, there is a very bad book. It happens from time to time, especially with the second book in a trilogy. What I do then? I keep on reading. It might take me longer than usual to get through the  bad book and maybe I am a bit unsure about what's to come but I do keep on reading.

Top Ten Most Intimidating Books 

1. Balefire (Balefire #1-4) by Cate Tiernan: 974 pages

I love witches and stories about twin sisters and I am dying to read this one but it's so huge. Yes, it's four books combined in one but I'm scared to start it.

2. A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire #2) by George R.R. Martin: 911 pages

I have this on my Currently-Reading shelve on goodreads for over a year now. Truth is I reached the middle of it but stopped reading cause it takes me such a huge amount of time to read Martin's books. Still, I do want to keep on reading. I stopped watching the tv show so that I can read the books first. This is a truly awesome series, but the books are just keep getting bigger and bigger.

3. Under the Dome by Stephen King: 880 pages

What can I say, I should have joined the read-along that's been running through this summer. I have the huge hardback version of this one which only makes the book seem more enormous. I knew when I bought it that it'd be hard for me to start it, but I read a sample from amazon and the story of a city trapped inside a dome just kept resurfacing in my mind and I knew I had to get it (and eventually read it). And now it's going to be a tv show too (yet another one I will try not to watch before I read the book)

4. Until the End (Final Friends #1-3) by Christopher Pike: 846 pages

Yet another omnibous edition. Looking at my shelves I realise that every book I got by Pike is an omnibous edition. I did enjoy Chain Letter by him and really want to read yet another creept story but it's almost 900 pages. That's huge!

5. The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time #1) by Robert Jordan: 814 pages

It's a good thing that they split this book in two parts but still it's one huge book and it's just the first one to a huge series. I am more intimidated by the size of the series and not so much the book's. But after the Riftwar series reached its end I do need another epic fantasy series to keep me going.

6. Theft of Swords (The Riyria Revelations #1-2) by Michael J. Sullivan: 664 pages

I loved loved loved the prequel for the series and imidiately bought the first omnibous of the two first books but it's been sitting on my shelve ever since (over a year now). But lately I've been getting really anxious to read it and I am probably going to pick it up soon.

7. The Way of Shadows (Night Angel #1) by Brent Weeks: 645 pages

Three big books for this series, but at least there are only three of them and I got them all. I am just waiting for my assassin mode to take over me so I can get lost in them.

8. The Black Prism (Lightbringer #1) by Brent Weeks: 629 pages

Another huge hardback edition. Big mistake those are. It just makes the book look even more intimidating. I need to stop buying them but they look so pretty on my shelves.

9. No Time to Die & The Deep End of Fear (Dark Secrets #3-4) by Elizabeth Chandler: 624 pages

I loved the first two books of the series. Both were small, close to 200 pages each, so I get why they combined them. But this one is huge each book is 300 pages, why make a even bigger omnibous edition. I get epic fantasy books being big, but it's harder to start a YA book when it's that huge. I am just going to have to treat this one as two book to eventually read it.

10. In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad #1) by Tana French: 592 pages

The last book on this list and the one with the less pages. Still it's big but it's different from all the others. A murder mystery that I would love to start eventually.
