Project ELE by Rebecca Gober & Courtney Nuckels

Willow and her family have been waiting on line to get inside a shelter that will protect them from the high sun temperatures and a virus that killed thousands. When their numbers are finally called they have to pass some testss before getting inside and not all of them manage to. With her family being torn apart and everything quickly changing around her, Willow has no choice but to adapt fast at her new surrounding, her new friends, her new life. With the help of her friends she will discover a secret cave inside the shelter, a cave that seems to give them powers. In the search for tha truth they will face dangers they never expected and once again their lifes will be changed forever.

Willow was a worthy companion through out this story. She was stubborn, loyal and most impoetantly curious. I love it when characters act all Nacny Drew. Then there is Alec, the love interest, he is perfect boyfriend material. He was sweet and caring and had green eyes, what more do you need to love him? Connor and Claire were the two best friends. Connor I loved, he was funny and could always lighten the mood. Claire on the other hand not so much. She seemed a bit bipolar to me. She started out quiet and shy and then ended up having a few not so Claire like moments. I get that she may grow but she made a few 180 turns in the book.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book is the life inside the shelter. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't want to live there because even though it was better than outside it was still a prison. A very high tech, luxurious prison, but a prison nonetheless. I loved the Runner job Willow and her friends had and the tablet that you always had to carry with you, the assemblies and the crazy Doctor in charge of everything.

This story was a great start to the series and had a killer, cliffhanger for an ending. Despite some editing mistakes I spotted it was great. Also even though it's Dystopian it wasn't that hardcore as I am used to by other Dystopian books. All in all I can't wait for the next one.

Unpack This [Sep.10 - Sept.16]

Unpack This is a meme I started instead of my usual IMM. It was inspired by my love to open boxes, yes I love doing that.

E-Books:
Screams in the Night: This is a Halloween Anthology of tales of horror. I got this for review and will be reading it next month, just in time for Halloween. Needless to say I am very excited about it. I love horror stories.
Catching Suki: This is the prequel to Hunting Lila and it's free. I haven't rad Lila yet but I own the book and once I am ready to start reading it I will begin with this prequel.
Get it here.
Unspoken Prequels: The Spring Before I Met You and The Summer Before I Met You, are two prequels to the Unspoken story. Both are free and I am very excited to read them. I need to get my hands on Unspoken fast.
Download them: Spring | Summer

Physical Books:

Under the Dome: This book is huge!!! I got it in Hardback and had no idea it would be that heavy. I've never read any of King's books, yes I know, shame on me, I've watched the movies based on them and Haven, a series based on The Colorado Kid. Anyways, I read a preview of this book, first couple of chapters and ever since I can't get my mind of the story. I need to know what will happen.
Full Dark, No Stars: This book consists of four horror stories. Yet another perfect read for October. I think this one will read faster than Under the Dome, since it's four small stories.

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood #1) by J.R. Ward

Dark Lover introduces us to the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, where vampires exist and are hunted by lessers, humans with no soul. In the midst of the war between them, Wrath, one of the warriors of the Brotherhood, is burden with the resposibility to help one of the brothers half-human daughter who has no idea about what she truly is. Wrath has to introduce Beth to his world and soon to be hers too.

I heard some amazing things about this book and thought I should give it a try. And even though I loved the brothers and how unique and amzing they all were in their own special way I expected more. There was so much promise of action which we never get to witness, because Wrath's and Beth's lustful moments were getting in the way and trust me after a while I got bored of them. I wanted to see the fighs.

The Wrath and Beth moments were good even though they moved way to fast in their relationship but through them I realized that the world Ward has created was not one I was so fond of. First off Vampires acted more on their insticts, I little bit too much. They were creatures of lust and rage and I realized that they were always following their insticts like animals, that's not good for me. Surprizingly I found Mr. X, the bad guy, to be the most inteligent person in the whole book. I love a man with a plan. Another thing I didn't really enjoy about the book was that it felt like the whole society of the Vampires wasn't really in favour of the females. Why aren't there any female warriors?

I was almost over reading this book and about to give it 4 stars when another character started lusting over a woman, and that was all the cheesy quotes and dialogs I could take. I consider myself too much of a feminist to swoon over cheesy quotes like that and I remember giving the dialogs an eyeroll every now and then.

Still, with the promise of more action and more scenes about the rest of the brothers I will try my luck with the next book. Oh, yeah, and I am rooting for Mr. X. (My first time rooting for the bad guy, but he is brilliant)

Tell Me Something Tuesday #8

Tell me Something Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Cambria Hebert. Every week we get to answer to a new question.

This week's question:
It’s already September! What book releases are you looking forward to this fall?

My answer:
Below is a list with most of the fall new releases I am eager for. I probably missed a few.
Putting this list together I realised that most of the upcoming books I am looking forward to are 2013 releases. I honestly can't wait for 2013.
From the books above, I have an ARC of Shadow Society (yay!!!) and I will be getting one of Tirade (YAY, for Team Heven & Hell), also I've already pre-ordered TEN. I am a huge fan of horror and readign the blurb of it I knew that I'd love it, this is what great horror movies are like, inspired by this book I rewatched Harper's Island.

Anyways... What are you looking forward this fall?

Unpack This [Sep.3 - Sept.9]

Unpack This is a meme I started instead of my usual IMM. It was inspired by my love to open boxes, yes I love doing that.

Books:
Grave Mercy: Can't wait to read this. I love assassins and this book has some amazing reviews.
Scarlet: I am a huge fan of Robin Hood, archery and everything related, I think it's partially because I am a Sagittarius. Anyways, I am really excited to read about Scarlet, who pretends to be a boy and is part of Robin's band of thiefs.

Silver (Bandia #1) by Talia Vance

When I first saw a book about Celtic Mythology I was ecstatic. I shouldn't be. Lesson learned. This book was yet another disappointing read for this year. Where do I begin? The worst thing about it? The characters. Oh, how I wanted to hit them all, hard...

The girls were shallow, mean, slutty and pathetic, such an awfull sterotype. Bri's friends were no friends at all, not even frienenemies, just enemies is better. They never passed an opprotunity to push her around and make her feel insignificant. And don't get me wrong, Bri was no better either. She was a pathetic, needy girl who when people start paying attention to was as bad as her so called friends. And God, Bri, I get why you do math in your head to relax yourself, I do it too, but you kept on doing it every five minutes, somethings wrong up there.

The boys of the book were quite as bad. They didn't ahve any respect for girls. Blake treated Bri like shit for the most part of the book and I can't seem to understand why she liked him, even a bit. And she wasn't the only one who got the shitty treatment and still kept running after the guy.

I read in a few other reviews that the Celtic Mythology had a lot of inconsistencies, I wouldn't know that since I am not very familiar with Celtic Mythology, but it's concerning enough that I don't find it hard to believe, shows how little I liked this book.

Also, and this is not just about this book but quite a few YA books out there, stop slutting up everything. Not every teenage girl makes out with a hot guy five minutes after they met just cause he wants her to. It makes me miss the times when YA was more innocent and sweet and allowed you to fall in love with the characters souls before lusting over them.
